First of all thank you very much for reporting the problem and for
helping to improve Ubuntu! Does this problem still exist for you in the
stable 8.10 Intrepid release? It would also be nice if you could give us
a few additional information:
- Are you using an amd64 installation or the x86 one?
- Do you use 'Gnome' for rebooting or do you call 'shutdown -r now' on the
command line?
- When does the shutdown get stuck? Does Gnome get killed?
