Public bug reported:

I just tried installing the 9.1 driver from ati on my UbuntuStudio Hardy
amd64. I was running the 2.6.24-23rt kernel when trying this and the
automatic installer failed to install the DKMS kernel modules. So I
tried the manual method and got these messages in the fglrx-install.log.
Except for this everything seemed as it should in the log so I didn't
see any need to attach the entire thing.

You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.24-23-rt (x86_64) first.

The 9.1 driver, as installed above, works when I boot into the
2.6.24-23-generic kernel (after the second try) so it seems the only
thing missing is that rt patch. I hope this helps, I would really like
to be using this driver with the rt kernel.
