Public bug reported:

During the installation of Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha 4 64 bits desktop from CD on the
following hardware:
- motherboard: Asus Commando (chipset P965)
- graphics card: nVidia 9500GT (Gigabyte GV-N95TOC-512H)
- monitor: apple cinema 30" (2560x1600 dual link DVI)

And after the Ubuntu loading completion bar is finished and the
installation tries to go to higher resolution, it stays in lo resolution
with the following message:

Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode
The following error was encountered. You man need to update your configuration
to solve it.
(EE) NV(0): Output DVI1 enabled but has no modes.
(EE) NV(0): No modes
(EE) Screens(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

As a note:
On Ubuntu 8.10 64 bits and 32 bits desktop, with the same hardware, the
installation CD would no be able to setup a graphics mode, so the installation
could not be completed.
In the following thread I explain how to work it around and get it running.
