My BIOS is up to date. The problem is that the function "acpi_video_get_next_level" in video.c is not implemented in version 2.6.17 (reference: http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/11/24/131). I think the function has been implemented in version 2.6.19 (reference: http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.6/2.6.19-rc6/2.6.19-rc6-mm2 /patch-list).
