I am afraid the kernel bug wasn't related as snd_hda_intel had nothing to do 
with power off in my case. 
I run an ACER Travelmate 5520 and this is still happening. 

I am sure it was introduced on 8.10 since it didn't happen with previous
version. It's really not acceptable in my case that's why I am switching
back to debian !! Ubuntu falks are not paying enough attention to this
bug as it only happens to some people.
