Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20
I just installed kernel linux-image-2.6.20-2-generic, version
2.6.20-2.2, on my HP nx6125 amd64 laptop. It goes through most of the
boot process normally, but just after the line "Starting System Tools
Backends" appears, the boot hangs and a second or two later, the message
"BUG: Soft lockup on CPU#0" appears. This happens on every boot. The
2.6.19 Ubuntu kernels work fine.
After the hang, only a hard poweroff helps. There's nothing unusual in
the logs.
