Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: casper

While running Jaunty off a flash device (Live environment) the touchpad
does not work. I tried dmesg and found this:

$ dmesg | grep Tou
[   52.315920] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 5.9, id: 0x236eb3, caps:
0x904713/0x10008
[   52.375802] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as
/devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input7

so it's obviously found. It has never had any problems in ubuntu
including intrepid. If you need more info, please let me know.

Edit: When I connect a usb mouse it works instantly, but the touchpaad
remains dead. I have tried disabling and enabling the device several
times with a dedicated button, to no avail
