Well, I'm no longer having this issue. It was a video problem as far as X locking up. What I did to resolve this issue was to install the newest ATI drivers. To resolve my CPU usage issue, I removed all the CPU packages from kernel. The CPU usage has happened once since I've removed those things from kernel, but I haven't been able to replicate it again nor has it done it again.
