Public bug reported:

DHCP servers seems not to recognize the hostname provided by Ubuntu
Systems. The dhcp-client-identifier is needed with the Systems MAC
address. The following works so the System is resolvable via DNS with
the hostname:

send host-name "<hostname>";
send dhcp-client-identifier 00:11:08:AD:19:F8;
request subnet-mask, broadcast-address, time-offset, routers,
        domain-name, domain-name-servers, domain-search,
        netbios-name-servers, netbios-scope, interface-mtu, ntp-servers;

** Affects: dhcp3 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
