Well, the issue is kind of resolved. We updated to 8.10 and now the sound card works fine for applications running from the desktop, but we are not able to get sound from web sites. But that is another issue. Thank you for your follow up.

You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- Gstreamer plugin not found after latest kernel install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290135 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. After my wife updated the computer the sound card stopped working and would dispay "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found." If I boot up in a previous kernel I have sound, but not if I just let the computer boot up normal. I read that I might have to reconfigure my sound card, I sure hope not unless someone can walk me through it. I tried " cat /proc/asound/cards" in the terminal and it just told me I don't have a soundcard. -- Gstreamer plugin not found after latest kernel install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
