Following your suggestions, here is where the boot up seems to freeze when I try to boot up. I'm transcribing what I see from the screen. If there's a way to capture this in a log file please let me know.

So it seems the problem is with the USB controller? I've attached the lspci output. I don't know if vvnn was supposed to stand for something, so I just used vvnn literally. You can do it using Intrepid. You could possibly get more information if you boot without usplash. Press F6 in boot screen and remove words quiet and splash. There is also option to boot with safe graphics mode via F4. -- Ubuntu Jauntyalpha 3 does not boot from Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325121 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Tried to boot from Live-CD for Jaunty alpha-3 on a Dell Optiplex 960. The screen is black right after selecting try from CD. The keyboard is frozen as well, however, if I press the off button on the machine the Ubuntu splash screen appears, and the status indicator appears. If I keep pressing and releasing the off button, progress proceeds, but still the os never loads. ** Attachment added: "lspci-vvnn.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22697102/lspci-vvnn.log -- Ubuntu Jauntyalpha 3 does not boot from Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325121 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
