Thank you to all who contributed. I'd been experiencing the same problem. I hope phil got things fixed, but i want to note to anyone who copies and pastes the command "sudo dpkg --configure -a" that you need to have patience and wait a bit for things to happen. Get up, Walk around a bit or grab a cup of coffee, everything will be fixed.
