Yep, confirmed. On -23-generic, without lum installed, it work if I install upstream alsa-driver-1.0.16 with ./configure, make, sudo make install, the mic on the webcam work just fine and can record. I confirmed that I was using the module I just compiled by looking at /proc/asound/version.
Then, if I install lum-2.6.24-23-generic and reboot, the mic would not work anymore (I would the "input/output error" discussed above).
