Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

I am running Intrepid x64 on two different machines that both access an
HP Photosmart C7280, and almost everything works perfectly. However, I
am getting one annoying error, and it's the same error on both machines.
I have added a photo printing queue for printing photos, and set the
media size to "Photo or 4x6 index card", the printout mode to "photo (on
photo paper)", and the media source to "Photo Tray". When I go to print
(from both GIMP and EoG), I ensure the page set up is set to 4x6 photo
paper. Then when I attempt to print (file/print...), the size reported
under image settings are a fraction of what they should be--instead of
6" high by 4"wide, they're 1.62" high by 1.21" wide. I cannot increase
the size, and "print preview" gives me a tiny little postage stamp of an
image on screen. When I print it anyway, the photo is both cropped and
surrounded by huge margins (see attached). Because gimp and eog behave
similarly, I suspect the bug is somewhere in either cups or hplip--it's
as if the adjustment from standard letter size to 4x6 printing happens
twice instead of once.

Some details:
1) Release: Ubuntu 8.10 x64 (Linux Mint Felicia x64, Ultimate Edition 2.0)
2) Package versions: eog 2.24.1-0ubuntu1, gimp 2.6.3-1ubuntu1~intrepid1, cups
1.3.9-2ubuntu7, hplip 2.8.7-0ubuntu6
3) Expectation: borderless print area, or at least approximating 4x6
4) Actual: print area a fraction of what I expected, without ability to
increase

** Affects: cups (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
