Okay, there was a user on IRC #xubuntu on 2009-02-18 with this same
issue using Xubuntu 8.10. He was able to do a remove/purge and reinstall
of gnome-power-manager to resolve the issue. Could you please try the
removal/purge and install and let us know the results? Thanks for
helping improve Xubuntu.
