Confirmed that it cannot currently build without using the pre-built binary
stuff shipped in the source tarball.
This probably needs to be fixed in the package before it can be promoted to
universe.
Marking as invalid for now, feel free to reopen if my
universe-appropriateness-analysis is incorrect.
