When you see this issue, is X actually frozen and not updating, or is it
only that the mouse and keyboard aren't registering?  Look to see if the
clock or something on the screen updates itself, or is completely
frozen.

If X is still updating, but input devices aren't working, then more
likely HAL is malfunctioning for some reason.  See

If it is not updating at all, then it may indeed be an X freeze.  In
this case we'll need to have you re-test against jaunty.  ISO images are
available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/.  If you can
reproduce it in the LiveCD environment, you shouldn't need to modify
your installed system.  Also please attach a fresh Xorg.0.log from this
testing.
