What resolution(s) were you expecting to see? Please provide the output of 'xrandr --auto' and 'sudo get-edid|parse- edid'.
Possibly this is just an instance of https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17215, which I think has been fixed better in Jaunty.
