This bug still seems to be alive and well in hardy (LTS).
I've just had it trigger on a machine with max_interrupt_work=10, as
suggested by https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=179422 although
that did seem to give us a few months reliable service before this
event. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be easy to trigger.
There are a pile of likely suspects on the kernel bugzilla.
