Hi there,
Thanks for your bug report. I am testing this in Xubuntu 9.04 (
xfce4-panel version 4.5.99.1-0ubuntu3 with xfce4-xfapplet-plugin version
0.1.0-3ubuntu4) and am not experiencing this problem, even loading two
instances of xfapplet, and adding the notes applet and the system
monitor applet. I even tried multiple portions of the system monitor
applet, but my CPU usage did not dramatically increase.
Removing xfapplet from my system did not dramatically decrease my CPU
usage, either. It may be the case that there are improvements in the
most recent version of the panel, or in the most recent version of xfce4
-xfapplet-plugin that prevent this problem from happening.
Could you please provide the output of "dpkg -l xfce4-panel" and "dpkg
-l xfce4-xfapplet-plugin"? That will tell us what versions of this
software you are using, and will assist us in identifying whether this
has possibly been fixed in a later version of this software.
Also, hopefully someone else will be able to confirm this problem in
xubuntu 8.10. I'm marking this as incomplete for now - please provide
the information above, and hopefully we'll be able to progress from
there. Thanks!
