So, if you edit /etc/resolv.conf from it's default: ----------- # Generated by NetworkManager nameserver 192.168.1.254 ----------- to: ----------- # Generated by NetworkManager nameserver 139.130.4.4 #Australian DNS server ----------- You can now access the internet as usual. Very strange. (Thanks to caryb and ronacc for helping troubleshoot). http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6777484#post6777484 NOTE: this is a temporary fix since the next time you reboot or restart Network Manager, it reverts it to the 192.168.1.254 address
192.168.1.254 is the DNS address given by my dsl modem to my router. It works fine in Intrepid, but not Jaunty. This needs more troubleshooting to find the discrepancy. Also, why was ping working when resolv.conf while other programs weren't? -- [jaunty] Network Manager connects but firefox can't load pages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/329937 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
