I will take another look at this. I recall that when I went to install 8.10 (64-bit) on this system (after a motherboard upgrade, but the drive configuration is constant), I could not install at all from a CD. I don't recall the details of the problem (I'll look into it again), but I ended up having to make a live USB drive to install from instead. I'll keep you posted on this issue, and report a different bug if it appears to be a different problem.
