Same problem. Mine is intermittent. Seems to get stuck in this state.
Sometimes reboot fixes it... sometimes it does not. This is 8.10
Workstation (same alsa-info as above) on Dell Latitdue D630.

When happening... Booting to Fedora 10 LiveCD has Pulseaudio working
fine????
