I can reproduce this error (with whole screen is white and a mouse
pointer) by create a new user, and adding this line
<entry name="accessibility" mtime="1225138994" type="bool"
value="true"/>
to
/home/username/.gconf/desktop/gnome/interface/%gconf.xml
ALT+TAB works, when you kill cheese you can continue work
(maybe this entry created in Hardy and not modified during upgrade to Intrepid)
