With what version of Git do you see this? I cannot reproduce on either
Intrepid or Jaunty.
$ mkdir foo; cd foo; git init
Initialized empty Git repository in /tmp/foo/.git/
$ touch x; git add x; git commit -m moo
Created initial commit 41f061b: "moo"
0 files changed, 0 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-)
create mode 100644 x
$ git tag 'tagname\'
$ cd ..; git clone foo bar
Initialized empty Git repository in /tmp/bar/.git/
$ cd bar; git tag
tagname\
Can you please give detailed instructions to reproduce this bug?
