Public bug reported:

My Dell Vostro 1710 has no network under 2.6.27-11-generic. The problem
first happened when I upgraded to 2.6.27-9-generic. To use the network,
I have to boot with 2.6.27-7-generic.

I reported this bug before (306418) but it seems to have fallen off the
radar.
