I've got the same error on my PC. The message "Aperture beyond 4GB. Ignoring" was displayed on the screen and the Ubuntu installation freezed.
I solved the problem entering BIOS setup and disabling "USB Bios support", restarted the machine booting from Ubuntu CD and choosed installation once again. The message appeared once again but it keeped loading until successfully start LiveCD for installation... So I guess that the "Aperture" message indicating the problem after all.
