the only reason it hangs at boot is because the xorg.conf isn't written 
correctly.
it needs to be done manually. 

None of the installations either 32 or 64 bit would work as expected,
either kubuntu, ubuntu, centos. Neither drivers from nvidia site or the
default install through package manager would write the xorg.conf
properly.

This is mine after a long hard fight which is working correctly in case
anyone is searching for answers. Especially Device pci slot was
important in this sli setup
