Given the squashfs errors in the log file you posted, I would wager your
problem is a bad CD burn, but without full logs I cannot say for sure
what the problem is. Can you please try to install again using the most
recent release of Ubuntu (http://releases.ubuntu.com/intrepid/) in debug
mode (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal and type `ubiquity -d`)
and attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/installer/debug to this bug
report.
