The default skins for Audacious 1.5.1 (via Ubuntu 8.10) are still awful
-- low contrast with microscopic control markings -- causing eyestrain
and frustration.

All furthe developmentr of XMMS is reported to have been abandoned, as
of several years ago; that's why Canonical dropped it from Ubuntu
distributions. However, Audacious can use Winamp 2.x "Classic" skins
(.wsz files) without problems; just copy them into the Audacious skins
directory (/usr/share/audacious/Skins). You can also open .wsz archives
with any program that can manage .zip archives, since .wsz files are
simply .zip files that have been renamed, and put the files contained in
that archive into a subdirectory under the Audacious skins directory,
giving it the name your would like that skin to have. Although it's a
bit hard to find, an archive of the Winamp 2.9 "Classic" skin is
available that can be used in Audacious without modification, or the
.bmp graphics elements can be edited to take out references to Winamp,
plus other customization as one might choose to perform. Search the Web
for a file named "baseskin29x.wsz"
