I have also been affected by this bug several times in both Intrepid
(32-bit) and Jaunty (64-bit) on a Macbook 4,1. There seems to be more
then one way to reproduce this bug, though I've had trouble reproducing
it. It happens sometimes when the screen reduces brightness to save
power, when you move the mouse it should increase brightness again but
sometimes it will remain stuck at zero.

Something else that might be worth noting. I ran into the bug after
using ctrl+alt+backspace once and when I was trying to hit restart I
accidentally went to hibernate. When it woke back up the brightness was
still stuck at 0%, but when I logged in an Gnome started the brightness
increased. That was the first time I've seen the brightness unstick
itself as usually it takes a full reboot just restarting X does not
help. When I logged back out of X though the brightness was stuck at 0%
on the login screen. I thought this behavior was especially odd.

Is there anything else I can do to help debug this? This bug is very
frustrating and is considered top priority as it has happened enough
times to cause a serious nuisance.

Thanks.
