I had the same experience with my sd cards (working in XP) until I rembered I enabled the webcam in boot-rom which is normally disabled by asus ; I disabled the webcam again in boot-rom and presto the cards are usable agian in ubuntu on my eeepc 900 (boot-rom options can be changed by pressing F2 while starting your eeepc) PS do NOT format sd cards with fdisk . . use Panasonic's SDFormatter 2.0.0.3 (freeware) http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html
