An updated package is available in the "pkg-iproute" debian git
repository.

It has not yet been uploaded to Debian since there was a freeze (Lenny
release) until recently. Since then I've asked Alexander Wirt, the
(co)maintainer of iproute in Debian to review the package but hasn't
heard back yet. I might go ahead and upload the updated version to
debian soon without his review.

If someone from Ubuntu wants to collaborate, please feel free to contact
me!

I heard that the community (MOTUs) can't do anything about the package
since it's in "main" and thus apparently only reachable by Canonical
people.....

For more detailed packaging related information please see
