Public bug reported:

I'm not quite sure how do describe this, but I've tried using cpufreq on
this laptop with 8.04, and 8.10 without much luck, the same bug would
manifest itself whenever the cpufreq driver was loaded. I had thought
at the time that it was simply because I was using a backported driver
that I had to compile. However Jaunty has it built in, and the computer
has been running just fine without cpufreq loaded in 8.10. When I start
using the built in keyboard and mouse and actually make the computer
work in Jaunty, the keyboard, mouse and even the power button will
suddenly stop responding. If I plug in a USB mouse however, I'm at
least able to shut the computer down cleanly.

Nothing shows up in dmesg, and I see no error messages when this occurs.
Everything will seem to be running normally except the power button,
mouse and keyboard stop working. I've attached dmesg, and will gladly
submit other information if needed. Also, ignore the logitech trackman
in dmesg, it does it with or without it plugged in.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
