Public bug reported:
This is in Jaunty 9.04
Just ran Partial Upgrade today. I got an error message - "Can't install
ubuntu-desktop. It was impossible to install a required package. Please
report this as a bug"
I followed the advice to "-f install" and I got this reply from the
terminal:
sudo apt-get -f install ubuntu-desktop
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
ubuntu-desktop is already the newest version.
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
ubuntu-desktop: Depends: gnome-app-install but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: gnome-games but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: ubufox but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a
solution).
The tried to -f install the unmet dependencies:
sudo apt-get -f install gnome-app-install gnome-games ubufox
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
gnome-app-install: Depends: python-launchpad-integration but it is not going
to be installed
gnome-games: Depends: python-launchpad-integration but it is not going to be
installed
ubufox: Depends: apturl (>= 0.1.2ubuntu1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a
solution).
Hope this helps, if there's any other info you need I'll try to get it
for you.
