Public bug reported:
The title says it all. sudo apt-get update in terminal does not produce
any update icon in upper panel, but if I go to the GUI-based update
manager via System --> Administration --> Update Manger, there are
always updates waiting to be installed. Please contact if there are any
log files etc. that you need.
