Public bug reported:

Hi

Ever since I installed ubuntu(at the time of 8.04) on one of my
computers I had problems with reading audio cd's in my old Plextor px-
40ts drive.

This have worked flawlessly earlier under gentoo linux and I have also
recently tested it under windows where it also works for reading audio
cd's

When inserting an audio cd when running ubuntu I get a dbus error ( as
far as I remember a timeout), but more interesting is that I get a lot
of these in the kernel.log:

Mar 1 21:24:55 nexus6 kernel: [ 523.394750] (scsi7:A:3:0): No or incomplete
CDB sent to device.
Mar 1 21:24:55 nexus6 kernel: [ 523.394845] scsi7: Issued Channel A Bus
Reset. 1 SCBs aborted

If I stop hal and udev the errors stop and I don't get any errors
inserting the audio cd(but then I don't have device node in /dev and
cannot use it for much...I probably could try creating the device node
by myself)

I have seen this on 8.04,8.10,9.04 versions of ubuntu

The controller in use is this:
02:0a.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AHA-2940/2940W / AIC-7871 (rev 03)

And the cdrom drive is:
[7:0:3:0] cd/dvd PLEXTOR CD-ROM PX-40TS 1.05 /dev/sr1

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
