Thank you a lot to have tried to solve my problem and excuse me for the long delay of my answer. In fact, my sound problem is solved but I am unable to describe exactly why. Here are some comments:
- it appears that my problem had nothing to do with the modem: I suspected the modem because I had such problems when updating ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 - when I checked the sound volume control, some settings were not correct; in particular the PCM volume was set to 0. I think that the update from 8.04 to 8.10 did not leave the settings in the same state they where before; so now the gnome-sound-recorder works correctly. - I have also installed an up-to-date version of adobe-flash-player and then other sound applications I uses work also correctly. > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make > Ubuntu better.
