It's normal that edubuntu-artwork does not trigger update-initramfs, it
has to be done from removal the dependency edubuntu-artwork-usplash.

I compared usplash-theme-ubuntu.postrm and edubuntu-artwork-
usplash.prerm (they have to do the same) but I see a great difference:
the first calls 'update-initramfs -u',- the second not; it only calls
update-alternatives, thus not updating the initial ramdisk.


I suggest to change edubuntu-artwork-usplash.prerm with the patch
attached to this comment, if it is what needed....
