Well, that is disappointing.

Does anyone know if the 4650 will be supported in Ubuntu 9.04?

As for testing with your 6.12.0 version, I honestly wouldn't know where
to start. If there are instructions available somewhere for what I'd
have to copy and/or install on my vanilla Ubuntu 8.10 system to work
with what you're describing, I might be willing, but with just that much
info I am totally lost.

Also, I should ask about the fglrx driver. I tried installing that
before reporting this problem and had no luck with that either. Is it
the case that the version of that available through ubuntu is also old
enough that it doesn't support the 4650? I'm a bit confused there
because I found this bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
ati/+bug/325431

before I submitted my own.

9.04 is only a month (or 3) away, I suppose. But time will tell, and
that only matters if that release will support the 4650.

Thanks very much for your help. As I say, if there are instructions or
something that will help me test with the new version of things you're
describing, I'll try it.
