** Description changed: + This seems to be a conflict between the new kernel and the nvidia driver. After resetting the x-server settings the system boots properly. When I then enable the nvidia driver in System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, the system stucks again during boot. + I'm wondering why there are two different version of the nvidia driver displayed in this menu (version 173 and 177). For the problem the version makes no difference. The system hangs on both. + After the latest update via update manager (which included a kernel update), my Samsung Q45 notebook hangs during boot. I attached the relevant part of my /var/log/messages as bugreport.txt. Booting with the previous kernel version (2.6.27-12) works without problems.
