** Description changed: I have nvidia setup on two screens (twinview, no xinerama). My distro is kubuntu 8.10 i386 with kde 4.2 beta. I get mainly horizontal video - tearing but sometimes the video playback flicker too. I am not supposed - to file bug reports about it when using kde 4.2 but there are many - similar bug reports that are going to be closed and are simliar without - kde 4.2 but the options for them are not necessarily fixes for all. + tearing on the tv out (mplayer or kaffeine or vlc) but sometimes the + video playback flicker too. I am not supposed to file bug reports when + using kde 4.2 but there are many similar bug reports that are going to + be closed and are simliar without kde 4.2 but the options for them are + not necessarily fixes for all. e.g https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx- installer/+bug/315267 it says that you can dl a package to fix this tearing by adjusting vsync. I am using kwin composting effects which is not the same. This I have read about using xv, x11 and such video outputs, the horizontal tearing is still there even with desktop effects (kwin) turned off. I am going to look for vsync in kwin but still wanted to post bug. Similar problems, http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6477061
