I am also having a problem and I believe this bug is to blame. I have been running Xubuntu for two years on a ThinkPad X21, connecting to my Apple AirPort Graphite Base Station. I have never had issues connecting but since the last update 18 days ago all of a sudden the computer does not connect and I get the same dialog box that cactaur is getting above. I confirmed the hex string matches the Hex equivalent value in the AirPort software I run on my Mac, but I have never entered Hex before from the Ubuntu box -- I entered ASCII before. Why all of a sudden is it asking me to enter Hex? Seems like something got broken. Feel free to contact me for more info if needed.
