Hi, Santiago. Thanks for your patience. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the apport collecting hooks in the cup package. However, I have reproduced the behavior on the xubuntu daily livecd (build 20090304) and similar behavior on the ubuntu daily live cd (build 20090305.1) -- the printer applet icon would appear for a while and then disappear with no notification, nor was the printer configured. But then searching in system-config-printer would correctly identify the printer.
In my case, the printer is a Brother 5250DN. lpinfo -v output is: network socket network beh direct hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_4f9_2b_J7J272419_if0_printer_noserial network socket://192.168.1.150 direct usb://Brother/HL-5250DN%20series direct hpfax direct hp network http network ipp network lpd direct parallel:/dev/lp0 direct scsi serial serial:/dev/ttyS0?baud=115200 serial serial:/dev/ttyS1?baud=115200 network smb I enabled debugging for the cups daemon, attached is my /var/log/cups/error_log ** Attachment added: "var_log_cups_error_log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23526657/var_log_cups_error_log ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- HP Deskjet F4180 not detected as printer on Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
