i have the same card but its PCIx16 and getting the same issue:

here are my full system specs if that helps
intel d915gag board
3.0ghz hyperthreading
1 gig crucial ddr 3200 ram
sata HD Western Digital (360gb)
sata burner (forget the brand)
500watt powersupply not that it matters :)

never had an issue with 8.10 or 8.04 with the same system.
