Coming from bug 335514 I'd like to add that I'm seeing exactly the same behaviour as the OP for the *German* medical dictionary (packaged for ubuntu as hunspell-de-med). It therefore seems to be something more general when having more than one dictionary for a language and not a problem specific to the OpenMedSpel plugin. I'm on an up-to-date jaunty, 32bit with openoffice.org package installed (more infos in my comments for bug 335514).
