I have an HP dx7300 with the Q965 chipset and I can confirm that this bug exists in the following ubuntu distributions:
6.10 x86 Desktop 6.10 AMD64 Alternate Install 6.06 x86 Desktop The boot hangs and last message during boot is (similar to): ACPI: Assume Root bridge [\_SB_.PCI] Note that Ubuntu is not alone with this problem. All current gentoo livecd fail to boot at the same point. I also built a bootable USB flash drive to test different kernels. I get the same symptoms with 2.6.20-rc1-mm1. I have not tried every possible kernel command line option. Switching off APIC and ACPI did not help. -- Kubuntu Desktop CD doesn't boot for Intel Q965 chipsets https://launchpad.net/bugs/66546 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
