I'm not sure if you mean Hoary or Hardy... but I will assume Hardy as
Hoary is quite old :-)

Doing a little research (as I don't have a mac) I could at least confirm
that other users were having issues configuring Hardy and Intrepid on a
G4, and have suggested xorg.conf file changes and suggestions to specify
the resolution and frequencies of your monitor in some cases, and/or by
switching to the frame buffer driver.

Have you tried these.

This will help round down if it is a driver issue or if it's just not
detecting the monitor correctly.
