** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Intrepid)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed
** Description changed:
Trying out intrepid daily-live: There is no floppy in "Computer" and no
"/dev/fd0. The "floppy" module has not been loaded. This is maybe a bug
in initramfs-tools or udev, but I file it here for now.
WORKAROUND: add "floppy" to /etc/modules, for instance this way:
echo "floppy" | sudo tee -a /etc/modules
+
+ ===
+
+ SRU Justification
+
+ Justification: floppy devices are not detected and presented to the user
+ as they were in Hardy and before
+
+ Impact: novice users cannot see their floppy. floppy remains active
+ until the module is loaded by hand
+
+ Fix Description: add a module alias to the floppy driver so that it
+ auto-loads when a floppy is detected
+
+ Patch: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-
+ intrepid.git;a=commit;h=57d29e0fe30fd7acf825225dcc8bfc877ff20376
+
+ Risks: low, only affects the floppy driver which is also pretty rare
+
+ TEST CASE: boot with a floppy drive present (non-USB)
