I can also confirm that the bug exists on Intrepid and is hardware independent. The partition table was simpler.
I have tried to install from working Windows XP installation (oxymoron?): no hdd is available at the "[!!] Partition Disks" step; fdisk detects partition table fine. I'll try with Hardy.
